メダルを集め再開。Resume medal drive

こんにちは。ブログを再開しています。(English will follow below the photo)

コロナ前後でストップしていますが、

私たちはアメリカや日本の子供病院などに

ハーフマラソン以上の距離の完走メダルを

メダル４メテルという非営利団体を通して

送る活動を順次しています。

細く長く活動しており、今回は再開活動として

第14回水都大阪100kmウルトラマラニック（大阪ウルトラ100km）

の大会会場で集めます（郵送など不可）。

いただいたメダルはリボンを付け替えて、

日本国内、またはアメリカのノースダコタの

子供病院に発送しています。

ノースダコタは、寒い時期が長いカナダとの

国境近くの州で、レースが開催できる時期が

非常に限られていて、

州外からのメダルの寄付が喜ばれます。

メダルだけではなく、リボン代や送料についての

ご寄付もご協力いただけましたら、助かります。

こちらも大阪ウルトラ100kmの大会会場にて

募金箱を設置いたします。

さて、今日もそんなノースダコタの病院の

リーさん（ランナーで病院のスタッフ）の

お便りをご紹介します。

病院で会う全ての「仲間ランナー（患者）」さんに

こんなことを伝えています。

身体的な限界を感じてやめてしまいたい、

あきらめたい、

もう完走することを諦めたいと思う時、

みんなを思いっきりの声援を送って

後押ししてくれている存在が

あることを忘れないで欲しいのです。

それは家族であったり、親戚、お医者さん、

セラピスト、ラボの技術者、

チャイルドケアチームなど、患者さんの背後で、

フライパンを叩いて、声を出して声援をして、

応援サインを掲げています。

M4Mもそんな応援チームの一員で、

皆さんからご寄付いただいたメダルを渡すことで、

病児さんの気持ちが軽くなったり

勇気を与えることができたら、

私たちの試みは成功しているといえるでしょう。

Every "fellow runner" I meet within the hospital confines of their personal race course, I speak with them about the importance of all those avid and faithful spectators/fans along the entire race course; cheering every runner on when their physical will tells them to stop... to give up... to not even try to finish...

Today I am reminded of all the faithful spectators/fans along all of our fellow runners' course - their parents, their relatives, their doctors, their therapists, their lab technicians, their Child Care team members and so many others behind the scene. In the silence of their heart they are ringing bells and banging pans and screaming and holding signs to get each of these courageous runners to their finish line. And that is one of the greatest successes of what we do at Medals4Mettle.

日本の私たちが送っている

米国ノースダコタ州のリーさんの投稿をご紹介します。

先週の火曜日、M4M(メダル4メトル）の

病児さんたちへのメダル贈呈式が行われました。

今回で、北ダコタ州の病児さんに送られた

M4Mのメダル数が6500枚を超えました。

（注釈：日本から寄付されたメダルは

そのうち1000個は下らないと思います。イエイ！）

6500枚のメダル。

それは単に合計数や総数のことを

すごいなって言っているんじゃないんです。
純粋に「誰かのことを思う」という気持ちであり、
一人の人間から他の人間への一瞬のつながりであり、

 「応援しているよ...」

って声をかけてあげるだけのことでもあります。

January 20th, 2023 This past Tuesday's medal presentations for Medals4Mettle to some outstanding young patients (fellow runners in Life's journey) allowed the North Dakota Chapter of Medals4Mettle to surpass 6500 medals.

In all honesty, my friend, it's truly not about the tally or total. It is simply about the "touch"; that instant connection between one human being to another human being and simply whispering (what we yell on the sidelines of a marathon), "You've got this.
