パイレーツ＆プリンセス・ナイト

M4M　NY州ロングアイランド支部は、パイレーツ＆プリンセス・パーティーを「リナZ」というお店で行いました。招待された子供たちは、自分たちの一番好きなパイレーツ（海賊）やプリンセスの格好をして参加しました。モーガンセンター（最近、CNNでも取り上げられました）からは８人参加しました。モーガンセンターは、ヒックスビルにあるガンの子供たちのための幼稚園です。そして、ストーニーブルックセンターの子供ガンセンターからも二人の子供が参加しました。そして、子供たちの家族も来てくださいました。ツインクル・タウン・エンターティンメント（というパーティー企画会社）からはプリンセスとパイレーツも来てくれて、この日は、彼らにスペシャルな子供たちのためにメダルをあげる係をしてもらいました。女子は、髪の毛をステキにしてもらい、ネイルもしてもらっていました。男子には、（シールの）タトゥーをしてもらい、それぞれ、工作遊びもしました。キラキラ光るライトの下で、フェースペイントもしてもらい、ダンスもしてみんなで楽しい時間を過ごしました。ピザとアイスクリームもあり、スィートショップという、リナZの前にあるお菓子屋さんでは好きなお菓子を選ばせてもらいました。子供たちのために、色々な用意をしてくれたエリーさんと、リナさんには本当に感謝します。実は、二人の子供は、病気の具合が思わしくなく参加できませんでした。しかし、メダルと一緒に小さいお土産を用意しました。次回のロングアイランド支部でのメダル授与パーティーは、５／２４でのマイナーリーグ（野球）のロングアイランド・ダックスのクエーカージャック球場であります。

The Long Island Chapter of Medals4Mettle's most recent event was a Pirate/Princess Party at Lina Z's in Huntington on Thursday March 22nd. The children came to the party dressed as their favorite princess or pitate.  We honored 8 children from the Morgan Center (recently featured on CNN) which is a preschool in Hicksville for children with cancer and 2 children from Stony Brook Medical Center’s Pediatric Cancer Center (and all of their siblings). We had a princess and a pirate from Twinkle Town Entertainment help to present the medals to these special little ones. The girls had their hair and nails done while the boys got tattoos and did craft projects. They had fun getting their faces painted and dancing with glow lights.  They enjoyed pizza and ice cream and then had the chance to choose their favorite candy from the Sweet Shop at the front of the store.  We are very thankful to Elllie and Lina Z's for pulling out all of the stops for  our kids. We had 2 children who were too sick to be there and we always send them care packages with their medals. Our second annualLong Island Duck's game where the children will receive their medals from QuackerJack is scheduled for May 24th.

先日の魔法にかかったかのような楽しい午後、本当に感謝します。PとFは、非常に楽しい時間を過ごしました。本当にすごい素晴らしいとしか言いようのないパーティーでした。Pにとって、過去２年は、今日のような楽しい数々の機会を過ごすことのない年月です。友達と一緒にダンスできるなんて、お祝いごとのようでした。色々と準備して下さった全てにありがとう！

We just wanted to thank you so much for a magical afternoon. P and F had such a wonderful time, it truly was a spectacular party. The past two years P has missed out on so many opportunities like today's party and it felt like such a celebration to be with all her friends dancing.

パイレーツ＆プリンセス・イベントとは関係ないのですが、今晩、私（ロビン）が寝る前に、フェースブックにこんな書き込みがあることに気がつきました。書き込みは、メダルを受け取ったお子さんのお母さんからです。

私たちの寝室のある絵には「世界にとって、あなたは一人の存在にしか過ぎないが、一人の人にとったら、あなたは全ての世界です」と書いてあります。私にとっては、G　は、ここにあるように私の世界の全てです。私が、娘の A の妊娠五ヶ月半の時、私の人生最悪のニュースを受け取りました。２歳半の娘であるGが白血病であることが判明したのです。私の最初の考えは「どうしよう。彼女は死んでしまうんだ」というものでした。私は、白血病の治療については無知で、自分の周りにも白血病になった人は皆無でした。お医者さんとお話しして、Gの白血病は治療可能だといういい予測だということを伝えられ、ほっとしました。この２年以上の間、Gは、ケモセラピーの錠剤を毎晩のように服用することを始め、沢山のケモサラビーの治療を受けています。ケモは、足にも脊椎や色々な所にも行われています。再発の心配もあるということで、毎日が闘いです。目覚めることのない悪夢の中にいるようでもあります。幸いなことに、Gはケモセラピーにも耐え、ほぼ９ヶ月の間、ガンの再発がありません。Gはとても強い子です。沢山の方々の支えと家族の愛にも感謝します。

Gのような子供に対するみなさんの応援と支援、ありがとうございます。心から私の人生最大の喜びの一つです。

One last thing and I am going to sleep: The mom of one of our medal recipients posted this on Facebook tonight:

I'll begin with the picture that I have in my bedroom. It says," To the world you may be one person but to one person, You are the world." I think of G and how she is my entire world. When I was 5 1/2 months pregnant with my daughter A, I received the most devastating news of my life... My two and a half year old daughter G diagnosed with Leukemia... My first thought was Oh My God, She...'s going to die. I knew nothing about Leukemia treatment and never knew anyone who ever had it. After talking with the doctors, I was assured that G's Leukemia was treatable with a good prognosis. For more than 2 years, G was given many different chemotherapy drugs including oral chemo pills almost every night, chemo shots in her legs, chemo shots many times into her spine, and given chemo through her mediport. Everyday is a struggle when you hear that there are sometimes children who relapse. It's like living a horrible nightmare that will never go away... We have been so fortunate that G tolerated the chemo and has been cancer free for nearly 9 months.. She is very strong. I am fortunate to have lots of support and a loving family that supports me while paying it forward in helping other families and local related cancer charities. Katie

Thank you for allowing me to honor children like G.  It is truly one of the greatest joys in my life!
